1.
Oxymoron
is a paradox reduced to
two words, usually in an adjective-noun or
adverb-adjective ("inertly strong") relationship, and is used for
effect, complexity, emphasis, or wit:
My definition:
It means to use two very different words like wise fool in a sentence in a way
the makes a relation between the two words.
Sentence: The wise fool had no idea about the brilliant
ideas he obtained.
Other examples: scandalously nice
*this word is pretty straight forward. Its used for
effect or to show sound.
Examples: boo, buzz, knock knock, pow!, phew.
Sentence: The bee was buzzing loudly in my ear.
3.
Metonymy
is another form of
metaphor, very similar to synecdoche in which the thing chosen
for the metaphorical image is closely associated with (but not an actual part
of) the subject with which it is to be compared.
My definition: its like using two things that are
very similar to each other but are not part of each other like when you think
of the white house then usually you think of the White House, but they are not
physically parts of each other.
EXAMPLE: The orders came directly
from the White House by the president himself.
4. Metaphor compares two different things by speaking of one in terms of the other. Unlike a simile or analogy, metaphor asserts that one thing is another thing, not just that one is like another. Very frequently a metaphor is invoked by the to be verb

My definition: Comparing two things without using the words like or as.
Example sentence: That man is colder than a glacier.
the man is being compare to the glacier saying that his mood is harsh or gloomy. no passion.
5. Metanoia qualifies
a statement by recalling it (or part of it) and expressing it in a
better,
milder, or stronger way. A negative is often used to do the recallingExample sentence: I bet dogs are great listeners, and even better talkers, I mean if dogs could talk.
Explaining: where the sentence cut off and started with "I mean" that is referring back to the dog. and that is what the word metanoia means.
